Everything we know about VITEEE 2025
The exam pattern, counselling rule, marks-to-rank ladder and every public campus cutoff we use to power the predictor — laid out section by section.
Unofficial data — scraped from public sources
None of these numbers come from VIT directly. They're compiled from CollegeDunia, GetMyUni, CollegeDekho and Careers360. VIT publishes the programme list, the equi-percentile rank rule, and the counselling eligibility, but not a clean raw marks-vs-rank table. Use this page to understand where a rank lands historically — not as an official prediction or guarantee.
Exam Pattern
125 questions, no negative marking, equi-percentile rank list.
Counselling Eligibility
Who can pick which campus, and how categories work.
Marks → Rank
Estimated marks-to-rank ladder from public sources.
Campus Cutoffs
2025 closing ranks per category for every programme.
Campus Patterns
How Vellore, Chennai, AP and Bhopal compared in 2025.
Rank Band Outlook

Campus + Programme + Fee Category
VITEEE is a single-shot online entrance for B.Tech admissions across the four VIT campuses. Because the rank list uses equi-percentile normalization, every public marks-vs-rank table you find online is an estimate, not a lookup table.
Annual fee groups (2025–26)
Group A · B.Tech
₹1,73,000 / year
Lowest fee tier, typically Cat 1 cohorts.
Group B · B.Tech
₹1,95,000 / year
Group B · Bhopal
₹1,98,000 / year
Bhopal-specific rate.
Section 2
Counselling Eligibility
Rank ≤ 1,00,000
Eligible for all four campuses
- VIT Vellore
- VIT Chennai
- VIT AP
- VIT Bhopal
Rank > 1,00,000
Eligible for 2 campuses
- VIT AP
- VIT Bhopal
How “Category” actually works
- VIT's category is a fee tier, not a reservation slot.
- Cat 1 = lowest fees; Cat 5 = highest. Higher cats accept higher (worse) ranks.
- No fixed global rule like “1–20k → Cat 1”. The cutoff depends on campus, branch, seat availability and demand.
- Always read your eligibility as (rank, campus, branch) → likely category.
Section 3
Marks → Rank Ladder
Estimates compiled from CollegeDekho, Careers360 and GetMyUni. High and mid score bands are consistent across sources; low bands are fuzzier.
| Marks (out of 125) | Expected rank | Confidence |
|---|---|---|
| 118–125 | 1–250 | High |
| 113–117 | 251–500 | High |
| 90–112 | 501–2,500 | High |
| 81–89 | 2,501–5,000 | High |
| 72–80 | 5,001–6,500 | High |
| 60–71 | 6,501–8,500 | High |
| 43–59 | 8,501–11,000 | High |
| 31–42 | 14,001–20,000 | Medium-Low |
| 0–30 | 20,001–2,00,000 | Medium |
90+ marks
Range for Vellore/Chennai top CS-family branches.
60–90 marks
Vellore non-CS, Chennai higher cats, strong AP/Bhopal CS.
Below 60
Higher fee categories and AP/Bhopal become the realistic path.

Section 5
Campus Patterns
Toughest by a wide margin
VIT Vellore
- CSE Cat 1 closed near 600.
- Most CS-family branches stayed under ~4,000 even at Cat 1.
- Higher fee cats for Mech/Core not always exposed publicly.
Competitive but reachable
VIT Chennai
- CSE: Cat 1 at 3,100; Cat 5 at 32,500.
- CS-family stretches up to ~22k–45k by Cat 5.
- Core branches available into the 80k–98.5k range.
Wide rank access
VIT AP
- CSE: Cat 1 at 28k; Cat 5 at 1,05,000.
- Electronics/mech branches reach into 1.4–1.5 lakh.
- Crucial for ranks above 1 lakh — still admits per 2025 rule.
Most forgiving for higher ranks
VIT Bhopal
- CSE: Cat 1 at 30k; Cat 5 at 1,10,000.
- Mech and several non-CS branches reach the 1.5 lakh ceiling.
- Naming differs from official 2025 programme list — read carefully.
Section 6
Rank Band Outlook
A practical reading of where each rank band realistically lands if 2026 trends hold close to 2025. Not official guarantees.
| Rank band | Most realistic outcome |
|---|---|
| 1 – 2,000 | Strong shot at Vellore Cat 1 in top CS-family branches. |
| 2,000 – 5,000 | Vellore lower Cat 1/2 in CS-family; Chennai Cat 1 in CS-family. |
| 5,000 – 15,000 | Vellore CS higher cats or electronics; Chennai strong CS/electronics. |
| 15,000 – 35,000 | Chennai Cat 2–5 very relevant; Vellore electronics or non-CS. |
| 35,000 – 70,000 | AP and Bhopal Cat 1–3 become strong; Chennai core opens up. |
| 70,000 – 1,00,000 | AP/Bhopal viable across many branches; Chennai core only. |
| 1,00,000+ | AP and Bhopal only per 2025 rule; highest cats and least competitive branches. |
Section 7
Modeling Notes
- Treat marks → rank as an estimated overlay, never as a guarantee.
- Treat rank → campus/branch/category as the primary prediction layer.
- Use branch families (CS, Electronics, Mech/Core, Bio/Health), not just branch names.
- High confidence when the 2025 row exists; medium when only a label is mapped; low when the row is missing.
- Vellore: some core branches lack higher-category rows in the public 2025 dataset.
- Bhopal: official programme names often differ from cutoff-page labels — names are reconciled where possible.
- A few articles labelled “2025” reuse 2024 numbers (e.g. Vellore CSE Cat 1 = 548 vs 600). Those are excluded.
- For ranks above 1,00,000, only AP and Bhopal are admissible per the 2025 counselling rule.
